Sensory Experiments (2019) was a self-initiated exhibition, performance and immersive event developed for Melbourne Design Week 2019. The project examined how sensory environments shape perception, behaviour, and human relationships within increasingly mediated spatial conditions.

  • Scope: Creative Direction, Set Design
  • Type: Event
  • Details: One-day, multi-space exhibition and performance
  • Location: Mission to Seafarers and Norla Dome
  • Status: Completed
  • Year: 2019

Structured as a series of interactive Sense-Scapes, the event brought together taste, scent, texture, sound, light and collective performance to produce a multi-sensory interior environment. Participants moved through a sequence of spatial installations designed to provoke sensory awareness and reconsider the relationship between body, technology and environment.

Central to the project was the development of the Manifesto for Sensory Intelligence: a live-generated digital archive formed through participant responses to sensory stimuli and spatial interaction. Continuously transmitted throughout the event, the manifesto functioned as both a collective reflection and an evolving framework for human-centred design.

Through immersive installation, performance, and audience participation, Sensory Experiments positioned sensory experience as an active design methodology rather than a secondary atmospheric effect.
